1. Tanzania
Have you ever dreamt of going on a safari? So why not do so this winter? Tanzania is one of the best safari locations there is and many claim that a visit during the winter is the best time because of the short rain season.
There is more to East Africa’s largest country than safari parks and beautiful beaches though. Tanzania is a cultural hub, with a mix of people from all over the world, it has become one of the country’s most popular destinations.
So whether you are planning a couple of days on safari into the Serengeti, relaxing by the sea, or scuba diving, your possibilities here are endless, and there is something for all ages. 2. Marrakech, Morocco
With absolutely breath-taking architecture, Marrakech is up there with being one of the best winter destinations. Home to some of the most amazing open-air markets, there are also new hotels popping up throughout the city all the time, adding to the area’s already long list of luxury offerings.
Get involved in a desert tour, camel riding, explore the gardens and cultural sites that you can see in and outside the museums, or spend the day sitting by the pool and take a leisurely shopping trip through the souks. This is a very culture-rich place and a great alternative to anyone looking for more than just a beach resort.
3. Florida
Nicknamed the “Sunshine State” it already sounds like the perfect place for a winter break – the weather remains within 20°C through the year. Famously home to the attractions such as Disney World and Universal Studios, Florida is all about fun in the sun and you’ll certainly never get bored. With white sandy beaches, museums, and lots of great food, it’s a fun day out for the whole family.
It also offers an abundance of bars and nightclubs to keep you up all night long. 4. Madeira, Portugal
Madeira is one of Europe’s most exotic and remote islands, and although there is a risk of some rain, its green landscapes make up for it whatever the weather. With its vibrant tropical gardens and dramatic coasts, the sun shines for a least six hours a day, and temperatures will be between 18 to 20°C – the perfect weather for a long walk, sightseeing, or a spot of golf. The island’s capital, Funchal, has lots to offer its visitors with its colonial architecture and thriving nightlife. This is the perfect place for a relaxing winter break.
5. Lanzarote, Canary Islands
With temperatures ranging from 21-23°C in winter, Lanzarote is the perfect holiday destination for a winter break. As well as stunning beaches, luxurious resorts, and thriving strips featuring bars and restaurants to try out, this location is also home to volcanoes and national parks, ready for nature lovers to explore. Timanfaya National Park is a great excursion trip, in southern Lanzarote, where you can spend the day hiking up the slopes and getting a great view of the island.
6. Langkawi, Malaysia
If you have ever considered visiting Phuket or Bali, then Malaysia would be perfect for you. It’s the perfect place for a getaway where you want to explore, stay active, and enjoy amazing beaches.
After you’ve spent a day touring geoparks and underground caves or taking part in some water sports, you will certainly work up an appetite. The best thing to do is sample all the local foods straight from the stalls on the many markets nearby to enjoy a next-level foodie experience.
