ถ้าใครคิดว่าคนฟินแลนด์เงียบ ๆ นิ่ง ๆ …
คุณยังไม่เคยเห็นช่วง Vappu แน่นอน 😂

Vappu คือช่วงที่คนทั้งประเทศออกมา “ใช้ชีวิตข้างนอก” แบบสุด ๆ ใน Finland จัดทุกปีวันที่ 30 เมษา – 1 พฤษภา

แล้วมันไม่ใช่แค่วันหยุดธรรมดา…
มันคือเทศกาลแห่งการกิน ดื่ม และปาร์ตี้กลางแจ้ง 🥂

🌸 แล้ว Vappu คืออะไร?

จริง ๆ มันมาจาก International Workers' Day

แต่ในฟินแลนด์มันคือ:

  • งานเด็กมหาลัย 🎓
  • ฉลองฤดูใบไม้ผลิ 🌼
  • และ…เทศกาลเมาแห่งชาติ 😂

คือพูดตรง ๆ เลยนะ
“เมาจริง เมาหนัก เมาทั้งเมือง”

🎉 เขาทำอะไรกัน?

คืนวันที่ 30 (Vappu Eve) คือเริ่มแล้ว!

ที่ Helsinki คนจะออกมารวมตัวกันเต็มเมือง ใส่ชุดโอเวอร์ออล(ชุดหมี)เป็นสี ๆ ถือบอลลูน ดื่มกันแบบไม่แผ่ว

แล้วคุณจะงงมากว่า “นี่ใช่คนฟินแลนด์ที่ปกติไม่คุยกับใครรึเปล่า?” 😆

อีกอย่างที่ดังมากคือการใส่หมวกนักเรียนให้รูปปั้น Havis Amanda คนไปดูแน่นมากกก เหมือนเป็นพิธีใหญ่งานหนึ่งเลย

🧺 วันที่ 1 พฤษภา = วันปิกนิก

วันถัดมาคือย้ายไปสวน เช่น Kaivopuisto

แล้วความพีคคือ
หลายคนยังเมาค้างอยู่… แต่ก็ยังออกมาปิกนิก 😂

  • ปูนั่งกันเต็มสวน
  • มากับเพื่อน ครอบครัว เพื่อนร่วมงาน
  • กิน ดื่ม ชิล

อากาศจะหนาวก็ไม่สน เพราะนี่คือ Vappu

🍩 ของกินช่วง Vappu

  • Sima น้ำหวานซ่า ๆ
  • Tippaleipä ขนมหวานกรอบ ๆ
  • โดนัทต่าง ๆ

สรุปคือ น้ำตาล + แอลกอฮอล์ = ความสุข 😆

⏳ จัดกี่วัน?

ตามจริง 2 วัน
แต่ฟีลเหมือนทั้งอาทิตย์ เด็กวิศวะ กินกันยาวติดกัน 3 อาทิตย์เลยก็มี

💛 ความรู้สึกจริง ๆ

ตอนแรกไม่คิดว่าคนฟินแลนด์จะปล่อยจอยขนาดนี้…
แต่เอาจริง ๆ ชอบนะ

มันเหมือนทุกคนฉลองให้กับแสงอาทิตย์ เพราะอากาศจะเริ่มอุ่นขึ้นละ

ต่อให้ไม่ดื่ม แค่ไปนั่งสวน ถือบอลลูน
ก็รู้สึกได้เลยว่า vibe มันดีมาก 🎈

🎈 Vappu & May Day in Finland

If you think Finnish people are quiet and reserved…
you clearly haven’t seen them during Vappu 😂

Vappu is basically the biggest “let’s go outside and celebrate life” moment in Finland. It happens every year on April 30 and May 1—and trust me, it’s not just a normal holiday.

🌸 So what is Vappu?

Officially, it’s part of International Workers' Day.

But in reality?
It’s like a mix of:

  • student festival 🎓
  • spring celebration 🌼
  • and… a nationwide outdoor party 🥂

And yes, people get very drunk. Like… impressively drunk.

🎉 What actually happens?

Vappu Eve (April 30) is where the chaos begins.

In cities like Helsinki, people gather outside, wearing colorful student overalls, holding balloons, drinking, laughing…

And suddenly you’re like:
“Wait… are these the same quiet Finnish people??” 😆

There’s also a famous moment where people gather to watch the statue of Havis Amanda get a student cap. Sounds random, but it’s a BIG deal here.

🧺 May Day (May 1) = Picnic Day

The next day, everyone moves to parks like Kaivopuisto.

And here’s the funny part:
People are still a bit drunk… or recovering… but still go out for picnic anyway 😂

  • Blankets everywhere
  • Friends, families, coworkers
  • People eating, drinking, chilling

Even if it’s cold… no one cares. It’s Vappu.

🍩 What do they eat?

Vappu snacks are actually really cute:

  • Sima (sweet, fizzy drink)
  • Tippaleipä (super sweet crispy dessert)
  • donuts + snacks

Sugar + alcohol = Vappu energy 😆

⏳ How long does it last?

Officially: 2 days
Reality: feels like a whole week and some engineer students make it last long for 3 weeks!

💛 My honest take (foreigner moment)

I didn’t expect Finnish people to go this wild…
but I kinda love it.

After a long, dark winter, this feels like everyone collectively saying:
“Okay, we survived. Let’s celebrate.”

And honestly?
Even if you don’t drink, just go outside, grab a balloon, sit in the park—you’ll feel it.
