The easiest way to travel from Koh Lipe to Langkawi is by ferry.

After exploring the island of Koh Lipe in Thailand, I decided to seek a change of scenery and planned a trip to Langkawi Island in Malaysia.

My journey is as follows:
1. Check-in at the checkpoint, Koh Lipe
2. Long-tail boat service
3. Arrival at Telaga Harbor Marina
4. Immigration checkpoint

  1. Check-in at Koh Lipe: We arrived at the Koh Lipe checkpoint approximately one and a half hours before our scheduled departure time, as recommended on the website. The location is situated next to a building called Boo-Yaa Resort & Restaurant.

The checkpoint manager arrived shortly after 9:15 AM. After he sat down, passengers began presenting their printed boarding passes and passports so he could fill out their forms. During this step, immigration officials collected passports and stored them according to the ferry's capacity or boarding pass. When there were enough passengers, the remaining tourists had to wait for another ferry.

2. Long-tail boat service
Passengers must wait at the beach as the long-tail boat will take them to Telaga Station, which is approximately 300 meters from the beach. However, the long-tail boat can only accommodate a maximum of 12 passengers per trip, so it may take some time for everyone to cross to their destination.

3. Arrival at Telaga Harbour Marina
After departing from the long-tail boat to the ferry, it takes approximately 2 hours to reach Telaga Harbour Marina on Langkawi Island. The ferry is equipped with air conditioning, restrooms, television, and life jackets. Upon disembarking from the ferry, all passengers must undergo immigration inspection at the nearby building.

4. Immigration Checkpoint
We need to collect our luggage from the officers and proceed to the immigration section. During this time, Telaga Terminal officers gathered the passengers and started distributing their passports back to their owners by calling their names so that they could still get their passport stamped for their onward journey.
